v5.3 of Websense Hosted Security

Dear Valued Customer,

We are pleased to announce version 5.3 of Websense® Hosted Web Security and Websense Hosted Email Security. This release will be rolled out in phases between April 18, 2010, and April 30, 2010. It provides reporting enhancements, an updated directory synchronization client, and Web security category updates. Note: Please see “Timeline” and “Action Required” sections below for important details.

This release includes the following enhancements:

§ Saved and Scheduled Reports – Commonly used reports can now be saved for easy access and scheduled for automatic distribution via email.

§ End-User Message Report – Users added via directory synchronization can now be automatically subscribed to receive the end-user message report without having to request it.

§ Directory Synchronization – A new directory synchronization client v1.1 is now available with improved support for Lotus Domino.

§ Web Categories Updates – New and amended categories provide more granular control over Web resources and deliver better threat protection.

Timeline and Impact
This release will be rolled out in phases between April 18, 2010, and April 30, 2010 as follows:

§ April 18, 2010 – Between the hours of 3 p.m. and 12 midnight GMT/UTC administrators may be unable to access the portal setup pages for Hosted Web Security. Please be assured that email and Web request scanning, processing, and delivery will not be affected.

§ April 19, 2010 – New Web categories will become visible in the portal to administrators. For additional details including category descriptions, policy dispositions, and exceptions, please refer to the Web category update release notes.

§ April 26, 2010 through April 30, 2010 – Additional release features will go live. For additional details, please refer to the
version 5.3 release notes. Please note: your portal login and password are required to access this file.

§ April 30, 2010 – New Web categories will become active and will be enforced in accordance with configured policy.

Action Required
The updated categories will become visible within the Hosted Web Security portal on April 19, 2010, but will not become actively enforced until April 30, 2010. This will allow you to examine updated categories, related policy dispositions, and exceptions prior to enforcement. In some cases, updated categories inherit the same dispositions and exceptions that you have configured for related categories.

We recommend that you examine the updated categories and adjust policy to suit your needs prior to the April 30, 2010,
enforcement date.
